“Holes”, fresco painting
“Holes”, 60″ x 40″, fresco and pigment on panel. The box panel is 1.5″ deep and the panel is covered with canvas. For this painting I wanted to use a more subdued color palette. A relationship I had been in for several months was ending. Poetry is written into and under the plaster. My private language of symbols is carved over that, trying to make sense of my emotions. The gestures of the strokes are the primary texture.

fresco, pigment, acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas
Through my art I seek to connect to others through the sharing of my thoughts, emotions and my search to understand life. Design is always ongoing. Visual images and symbols are articulated in layers of media. Through metal, paint, and paper, a recurrent theme is of layers of life created by observing people and experiences. I seek to express harmony through my artistic language and the balance of thought and color.
The rich surface of layers of fresco alternates painting and carving. Addition, subtraction, palette knives, brushes and rags meld the surface into an intriguing design. Sheer, luminous transparent color is both in and on the surface, hiding, revealing and defining at the same time.
The sides of this gallery wrapped canvas are painted and do not require framing.
This original painting (and reproductions) are available on Saatchi Art.
