I recently went to Chicago and was able to photograph three installations in the Chicago area. All are stainless steel which was laser cut. ”Of the Wind” was tinted with oil glazes.

Cyclic Synergy with simulated landscaping
I have just installed Cyclic Synergy (a Public Art Project) for the Oklahoma State University Institute for Agricultural Biosciences Facility and Oklahoma Art in Public Places in Ardmore, OK.
Of the Wind has been customized for the Loyola Center for Health at Burr Ridge in Burr Ridge, IL. For this project, I color glazed different layers of this stainless steel sculpture. The panels will be mounted horizontally for a linear installation.
The sculpture of Oklahoma State University is almost complete!
I have just shipped off the “Windows to Nature” sculpture for the new Elmhurst (IL) Memorial Healthcare. Each stainless steel panel is 26″ x 26″ and will be wall mounted.

Yesterday I finished the last of the washing off of the mud from the remainder of my supplies. I still have moving, sorting and editing to do. I have decided to leave my studio permanently by the end of the month.
My studio will be closed due to mud but I will be showing my jewelry and some small art at Maggie Spencer’s studio at 2707 Laguna Canyon Road. Come join us!

The flood in Laguna Beach last night hit my studio hard. My studio had 24″ of mud and water inundate it last night. I have lost much of my art, supplies, tools and history. The only things I know survived were my stainless pieces which just need the mud cleaned off. A bigger problem is first getting to the studio which is blocked by 6″-12″ of mud and debris. The road is closed as well.

I have received a commission for a stainless steel sculpture for the wall outside the conference room at the new Fountaindale Public Library in Bolingbrook, Il. The scene, in stainless steel, shows a stream, trees, bridge and grasses. The sculpture, titled “Bridge to Imagination” will be installed early 2011.

Over 20 artist studios will be open to the public. Saturday, Nov 6, 11am-4pm. This is a self-guided tour. You can pick up a map at any studio. Look for signs along Laguna Canyon Rd. My studio will have a large red banner “Marsh Scott art studio Open Today”.
The Sawdust Art Festival is open in Laguna Beach from 10 to 10 daily through August 26th. My booth is #319 and I ma showing encaustics, stainless steel jewelry and sculpture and works on paper.
I have been selected a finalist for the Akron University (Ohio) Public Art sculpture for the Auburn West Tower Rehabilitation which houses the departments of Biology and Engineering.
Over the next five weeks, the Sawdust Art Festival Grounds will be turned into an artist village. Here is my space for the summer. Show starts Friday, June 25.
I have just been to Yosemite with a group of artist friends for a week of hiking, photography, great food and great friends. We had the whole gamut of weather from snow and hale to brilliant sunshine. Here are a few of the images I took.

Last night I was awarded “Artist of the Year” in Laguna Beach at the Art Star awards. It was the last award of the evening and quite a surprise. I’m not quite sure what I said but everyone said it was good. It was a wonderful reception, dinner, and awards ceremony at 7 degrees. My family was there as well as many friends and many more from the arts community that I know or who I have worked with. I was given a wonderful bronze statue by Louis Longi.
I have just been nominated for “Artist of the Year” by the Laguna Beach Arts Alliance for their “Art Star Awards”. The Awards Ceremony will take place March 31st. This was completely unexpected, but a wonderful surprise.
